Our work / Logo design and branding for Durham restaurant

Józef’s Riverside Bar & Restaurant

The brief

When our long-standing client Radisson Blu Durham told us they were opening a new luxury bar and restaurant we were excited. When they asked us to develop ideas for its name, logo design and brand we were ecstatic!

Our goal was to root the destination in local Durham history and with a meaningful story. The target audience extends beyond hotel guests and the brief was to create a concept that would also attract a local audience for dining, drinks and to book private functions for special occasions.

The solution

After undertaking research and developing a shortlist of tangible names, the client settled on Józef’s, named after Count Józef Boruwłaski, a Polish dwarf who found sanctuary in Durham. The Count was a skilled guitarist who travelled and performed concerts for Europe’s elite during his life.

In his advancing years, Józef retired to Durham, residing on the banks of the River Wear alongside Durham Cathedral, his burial place when he died in 1837. The Count’s creative spirit is echoed in the restaurant's lively atmosphere, complete with live guitar performances on occasional Fridays and an eclectic selection of food and drinks.

Jozefs-Main-Menu-Design

Józef’s logo design combines the waves of the riverside location with a stylish serif font paired with a monochrome contemporary font. This logo design perfectly blend the bars’ historic location overlooking the Durham peninsula, with it’s modern and contemporary interior.

Rolling out the brand we created menu designs, interior and exterior signage, social media icons and more.
